It's very easy to declare those mistakes as 'silly', with a wisdom-laden 'hind sight'; today, standing at the precipice of a long journey, I can clearly mark the 'darker chapters' out from the brights...

I am the 'Matriarch', and the success for me has been a complex web of different propositions, and there have been umpteen ways to be 'what' & 'where' I am now; but a secure future of my generations to come, will be contingent upon the 'right answers' to questions of 'whys' & 'hows'!

It's been a known fact that the pre-eminent threat to us has been the loss, degradation and the fragmentation of our habitat; and one of the instigators of conflict between us, has been the real as well as perceived competition for space...

In the name of development you still encroach upon our 'maiden grounds' as a basic model of your growth; you forbade our inclusion in the 'complete picture', so ruthlessly, as if our presence has inherently been loathed...

You fence your borders, but nothing else gets disrupted better than our age old 'migratory routes'; I have long been accustomed to this 'second class' treatment by the savage—first class brutes!

Even though, I have not always been a 'matriarch', yet, I have never been in the position to put up a fight for the right to merely exist; I have just been lucky enough in securing those timely favors, to just naturally coexist...

You must have realized by now that more than the dreads of a jungle, to the dangers of the habitat loss, we are more expossed;
therefore, irrespective of a thousand year old—conflict ridden—history, I keep looking in you the Real Champions of my cause... Please, help me find the 'Real Champions' of my cause!"

I am a Tigress and this is my tragic story: 'An Embarrassing Refuge'!

"I happened to be the proud ruler of the jungles by being the 'Queen of masquerade'; that kingdom once was in a Natural Habitat—a 'Shady Sylvan Glade'... 

Then came the contender—you humans—needing to mark their respective range of influence, but for that to happen, every former belief was to be rearranged; sparring the 'biased rules' of the game, you see, every other thing was to be changed... 

Wonder what ensued???

...a state of conflict was reached, when the 'best of both the worlds' have met; sadly 'two swords' couldn't be contained, in a single humble sheath... 

...in clash of our Egos, your 'Gunpowder' overwhelmed the power of my 'Claws'; I withdrew from that 'battle of attrition', you see, long before it was declared a 'draw'... 

You see, the health & diversity of an ecosystem was once by virtue of my pivotal role; I used to be the 'Top-Predator' of the jungle and in turn I  had nurtured its (jungle's) very soul... But! 

...but, such 'Stories' have been told earlier, & seldom they were heard; regardless of the reasonableness such causes remained absurd...Alas!!! 

As vivid a symbol of 'strength with beauty' I was, while being a 'Majestic Creature', as ruthlessly I was purged to the verge of extinction, you see, by first being tagged as endangered... 

As much I was revered as I should be, in many and varried cultures; sooner the 'signs of my existence', ironically, happened to have gotten blurred... 

...In the end, it doesn't matter much as to who has lost and who reigned supreme; it is clear as day, now, as to who holds the reins of my sustainable existence and 'to be restored—Self Esteem'. 

I could only hope now that your souls are timely stirred; justified would be this 'embarrassing refuge' I had to take behind 'Praveen Katiyar's Words'!!!"

Sadly, it was you who said I am beautiful despite my deadly claws, and you only suggested that I am magnificent in spite of my killer jaws; it was you who declared me the 'Queen of this jungle' notwithstanding all my crowning flaws, so tell me, how should an uncultivated wild feline like myself be held responsible for misunderstanding your so called civilized cause??? Hmm...

You visit my jungle–my home–to grab your share of thrill, you surround and make me nervous around my own pricey kill; mind you, it's just to survive I put to use my natural skills, but do you really think that it's me who could afford to kill anything (leave alone a human) at will? I don't think so.

Being a mother, I am forced to feel cornered— every now and then—by dominant males or otherwise, and see, now I am at the centre of this ruckus of foul noise; my basic instincts have unfortunately been taken forgranted—I can sadly surmise, but believe me, I am not a Maneater by choice... I am not a Maneater by choice!"

"He was a selfless public servant, who embraced the simplicity, utility and elegance subsumed within the notion of minimalism; in order to keep his means of sustenance clean, he practiced before preaching—altruism.

He was the soldier of peace, an advocate of truth, and kept all along the notion of non-violence as his article of faith in humanity; only the master of such truncated yet powerful beliefs, could have attained such distinct singularity!

Not sure about anyone else, but today I felt the need of him to be paraphrased; I don't care, honestly, if following him would be tagged as the plagiarized versions of his ways...

He used to be the master of persuasion, and people thronged to follow him for only he personified the cogent example of morally superior conduct of life; to liberate his nation he embraced the inconvenience of jails, where he even happened to cremate his own loving wife... Such a sacrifice!

His virtuous life will be celebrated, I am sure, for a thousand years to come; no one can ever match his 'spirit to burn' selflessly just to be the guiding beacon!!!"

"Some wiseman suggested, that the secret to 'Peace' lies in the ability to process life as it is, rather than thinking as to how it should be; however, unsurprisingly though, that 'inexpensive wisdom' of coming to terms with the 'Inner Peace' doesn't come for free!!!
(P.S.: 'Inner Peace' requires efforts and sacrifice.)

Celebrated writers from around the world wrote extensively in its favor, even one of my favorites dedicated a whole book—to this notion—called War & Peace; no one seem to understand though, why in the end the 'terms of ceasefire' turn out to be only on a temporary lease!!!
(P.S.: My favorite, the grand Leo Tolstoy was an inspiration to even Mahatma Gandhi, the true agent of Truth & Non-Violence.)

Another instance of a 'living legend' who had to spread 'compassion in exile' for being an agent of peace; sometimes, the 'Sun behind the clouds' has to hold its sheen & shine together, without being concerned about the consequences of being withheld or released...
(P.S.: The Living Legend–14th Dalai Lama.)

Today, we are experiencing a 'Global Health Crisis' unlike any other, upending lives of billions around the globe; no one was expecting such humiliation, the way this vulnerable humanity was to be disrobed!

A surge in hatred, discrimination and stigma accompanied this untoward pandemic by far;
making it even more difficult to access 'humanitarian aid' in the zones of violence & the war!
(P.S.: The pandemic is known for hitting the underprivileged and marginalized groups the hardest. By April 2021, over 687 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered globally, but over 100 countries have not received a single dose. People caught in conflict areas/zones are especially vulnerable in terms of lack of access to healthcare—source: United Nations.)

There are still some 'takeaways' to gather from the fronts where we have been caught off guard; 'global solidarity' for a 'lasting peace', could be the very first step for a promising start!!!

'Global solidarity' is not just a moral imperative rather 'everyone's interest' in here gets aptly sufficed; 'Order of peace' must rule the post-pandemic world in order to learn a lesson to handle the situations that seem more normal otherwise!
(P.S.: Normal situations are the breeding grounds for discord...as, Peace can't be just the state of being calm and quiet; the complex sense of peace could also be attained by a 'distorted being' in his satisfied longing for disorder & disquiet! )"

"...a war begun for no wise purpose, carried on with a strange mixture of rashness and timidity, brought to a close after suffering and disaster, without much glory attached either to the government which directed it, or the great body of troops which waged it. Not one benefit, political or military, was acquired with this war. Our eventual evacuation of the country resembled the retreat of an army defeated.” Writes a disgruntled British Soldier, George Robert Gleig, while abandoning Afghanistan in 1842...

Interestingly, the peculiar lifestyle of this remote and varied land had essentially remained unchanged for centuries, only untill the advent of the competing forces that came in to erase Afghanistan's long cherished cultural memories...

The chances have always been bleak for an 'artificial democracy' to succeed in being the guardian that will protect the classic 'Afghan way of life'; in whose favor would you expect to argue, when the people themselves opt to be habituated to the enslaving customs, in order to survive!!!

Their inability to even express the unwillingness to participate, is the classic example of those republics where nothing transcends beyond what the smoking barrels dictate...

Thus, manifold reason for fear, apprehension, & anxiety still persist, & basic descrepensies still come to haunt; sadly every 'failed state' is bound to serve as a stage to showcase power—the world expects the powerful to flaunt!!!

Well, the attacks on the 'Twin Towers' was an opening salvo, but it had to take 'Two long Decades' to testify to its coming full circle; this realization is the only outcome in the end that it has always been impossible to piece together an 'unsolvable puzzle'!!!

Under the guise of its advocacy of democracy, 'The Almighty America' had kept on feeding its unrelenting pride; in its impulse of imposing wars upon the world it had willfully neglected more urgent cries...

Sadly, there is a thin line that separates a 'vulnerable hero' from his natural state of a 'villainous being'; one only have to live long enough to let the true Colours of his selfish self to be revealed at the visible side of the screen...

The mistaken belief in its ability to stem the rot, had actually led it to come to terms with the overwhelming odds; despite in a position of playing God, America, had failed miserably in connecting the dots...

There were several to provide the safe heaven, & some of them have been readily available at the disposal to play the patron; there have been many players to this game of destruction there, with ready-made excuses to justify their respective reasons...

As if a 'Geopolitical Crisis' of a cold war era was an imperative to wake the world to an impending mishap; it was the clash of conflicting interests that dragged it from oblivion & put 'Afghanistan' on the worlds' map!!!

The claimants to the guardianship of Afghans were motivated by the prospects of certain gains; to cater to the wounds of a bleeding valley, ultimately, the ones who had nothing to lose have remained!!! (The Taliban)

And finally, 'Taliban' has succeeded in forming their Shura (govt) last friday(sept-3-21); still the international eyes will vie for its legitimacy for the fears to be allayed & the further dangers to be kept at bay....

ANYWAYS...
Let me set the premise of this story where there were no less than '#7_DeadlySins' at play...

One, it all started with the Soviet's 'Greed' : Driven by the covetousness, soviets had come to wreck havoc, so that every other cold-war era force to reckon with was outweighed; never wondering what may become of those prestiged Afghan people, when the unwanted players start dictating the terms of a play!
(P.s: outcome was an unprecedented patriotic resistance; led by Mujahideen, supplied and supported by USA.)

Two, American 'Pride': Alleged to have put everything in disarray...Sent it's troops to send a message and the message was rightly conveyed; it's the labyrinth of expectations it got stuck in,  thus could manage only a prolonged 'half-hearted' stay!
(P.S: The tale of occupation started with an offensive, which was supposed to end with a fructified revenge; but the temptation of it had been procrastinated till an insatiable thirst for power was partially quenched...)

Three, Pakistan's 'Gluttony': To not miss the opportunity to exploit the chance served to it in a buffet...Pakistan had kept on arising time and again as a claimant with the largest say...
(P.s: Pakistan is popular for using tragedy as opportunity to rake up its cause, ISI here has been and will always play the 'Real Boss!')

Four, 'Lustful' Mujahideen: Two of the apex predators meanwhile, came at loggerheads as to who is to reap the most out of the heyday; indulgence in 'filicide' happens to be the natural tendency of such opportunistic 'birds of prey'!
(P.S: The 1970s was a time when Afghanistan was beginning to be site of proxy war between the Soviet Union and the United States. The Islamist uprising had started during that time against the pro-Soviet regime in Afghanistan. The US saw this as an opportunity to settle scores with the Soviets for the Vietnam war and started funding the Mujahedeen—under Gulbuddin Hekmatyar & Ahmed Shah Massoud)

Five, Saudi Arabia and Iran have been mutually 'Envious' of each other's clout in the region: In catering to their dismayed conscience which was at the verge of getting left out at the behest of a power play;  both had kept on raising their stakes higher in order to ensure that the others bet is downplayed... 

Six, the 'Wrath' of Taliban and Al Qaeda:
To defend the 'traditional lifestyle' & to treat the new infestation of the Kabul elite, the birth of a very first Islamic organization was
conceived to check the westernized class breed...
But a new definition of 'Terror' was still in the offing, as the orphans of those successive wars had felt betrayed; the beginning of their end had started with the 'move', Al-Qaeda had meticulously planned to repay... #9/11!!!

Seven, last but not the least , a 'Slothful'—Rest of the World, that couldn't wake up to the call of an impending catastrophic doomsday!!!...

...A battle of attrition between conflicting viewpoints culminated in the end just to disappoint; it is so heart breaking to see 'merchants of dreams' giving in this way to the war-lords who have always wanted it to be fetched at gunpoint!

Any dictum is meant to dictate the terms, yet in the end the legitimacy of it is supposed to be sought; makers of the Guns are supposed to be held responsible equally now for the way they are sold and bought...

A new dimension is added to an already unstable regions' chore; the chaos can again serve as an opportunity for those who have been looking for such similar detours...

With 'illegal weapons' in hands the accountability of bullets can't be restored; the taliban in the end will have to learn that the space will have to be reserved for a 'universal law' to take its course!!!

Sadly, the 'valley of Hindukush' has again fallen prey to the distrust, disillusion and despair; but in the pages of time, every inflicted wound's destiny is written—with time every sort of wound gets repaired!!!

Well, the looters will keep on looting, and the real help will seldom reach the needy despite seemingly always in its way; the only thing that could save a 'Bleeding Afghanistan' will be the timely supply of tourniquet...

I hope, I didn't sound too pompous in extending my honest concerns for my fellow beings; I only wish well for the 'valley of Hindukush' and prey for its wards well-being...

The aforesaid was neither an undeniable argument nor an unsolicited advice, the premise of the story was enlaid in the committed sins—clothed as virtuous vice(or necessary evil)...

We will now have to wait and see, as to what becomes of a culture that asks its people to simply submit, comply & obey; let's just hope that once peaceful Afghanistan doesn't become the land of abandonment of hapless refugees & runaways...

...Well, now, let's wait and watch if it's still past its day of reckoning; 'Afghanistan' after all will be what it has often found itself of becoming—#The_Graveyard_Of_Empires!!!

Diamond Jubilee: Happy Partial Independence Day!

"The constitutional ideals of justice, liberty, equality, & fraternity can only be ensured by the notion of 'Good- Governance'; but, high standards of conduct on the part of holders of 'public office' can only be the guarantee of a 'reliable providence'...

Every other day is a good day to start afresh, & every other moment offers a chance for a soul cleaning repentance; the undying spirit to sift rights from wrongs, in the end, becomes the quintessence of Good- Governance!!!

No matter how big or small one is, 'weaving a dream'—fearlessly— must now become every deserving soul's business; Let's all pledge now that the endowment of 'inalienable rights' become real for a dignified life, sensible liberty, & the unbounded pursuit of happiness!

There will be no better time to resort to a long pending penance, than a partly sordid-partly immaculate 'Diamond Jubilee' of India's partial Independence!!!

The Illusive Gold!

THE ILLUSIVE GOLD

While some compete for their faith, & some compete in 'Olympics' to leave the prejudice behind; the intent to be in the race for an 'Illusive Gold' in India has forever been 'one of a kind'...

What an amazing display of performances! Where some countries have dominated their forte, & some like India had tried hard to barely stay afloat; so many hard and bitter pills have been swallowed there—uncovering the topical 'Sugar Coat'!

The Formidable Curse of Cricket—accidentally invented by the English Men, but by all measures is an Indian 'prodigal son'; although a powerful unifying force, the behemoth has consumed it all turning into a 'Frankenstein's monster' that has grown beyond comparison!!!

Sometimes the obvious reasons for the participation in a competition become so unrealistic to achieve, that the overwhelming achievements in the end become the factor of our disbeliefs...
[PS: Sadly, here in India, the burden of redundant (not always) books always remain at the back of the head, then how could a 'promising fledgling' afford to have its wings fully spread; I feel for those puppets who are made to dance by way of invisible strings & the threads...]

From now on, I believe, slowly but steadily the 'clouds of our disbelief' will have to start thinning; the unprecedented show at the 'biggest stage' will definitely chart the path for many more future winnings!

It's my miniscule effort to set the reminder on a day as ominous as 'Friday The Thirteenth'; I am hereby extending the token of my gratitude towards the Champions, just two days before the auspicious day—August the Fifteenth!!!
[PS: Need to instill the habit of winning in the youth. Youth energy must not get wasted.]

When world is a stage, 'Winning' is not just about the rewards of it or about making it to the news headlines; it's about reaching the extremes of human capacities where mental barriers gets blown away & physical limits get redefined...

A medal can lose its 'bling & clang' but an athlete's sporting immortality gets set in stone; such is the enduring lure of triumph there, that even a participation (qualification) in 'Olympics' gets one the 'super humanly tenor & the tone'!!!

Today, Five days have passed by, since the unprecedented feat attained at the Olympic's conclusion; all thanks to 'Neeraj Chopra', for finally breaking the 'Illusive Gold's' formative illusion!

I can't even fathom the hardness of how difficult it was for him to see through a 'breakthrough', when there were no precedents set to guide; I am really proud of 'Neeraj Chopra' from the depths of my heart for saving & securing our Nation's pride!
[PS: Even though you couldn't reach your personal best of 88.03 m, you have won my heart delivering your best (87.58 m, 1315 points) standing amongst the bests in the world; your 'confident disposition' in the field was remarkable dear Neeraj, so was the exciting sight of those 'soaring javelin' you time & again hurled!!!

A FRIEND INDEED...

"I could count on him to be there, in my roars and my sighs, in my lows and my highs;
I would get a glimpse of him in all my "Heysss" & "Good-byes"...

He would never be amazed or awestruck, by my silliness/wisdom he would never be surprised; being the witness of me performing the 'Phoenix-play'—my  "Goodness" or badness would just seem to him overpriced!

He might push me to do the loot, and demand equal share of the spoils; he might go lazy as a slug and feast on the returns of my toil...

He might be "naive" as a dumb and at times too "complex" to make me go numb;
he might be as "cheesy" as a gum, yet he would be there when the time demands and no one else would come...

He could be "nosy" with the longest snoot, & as itchy as a bite of my new boots... he might be rude at times and still seem cute, my true friend  would certainly  be the strength of my roots!!!

'A friend in need is a friend indeed',
rather than a drag he would give me the speed;
He would go dumbstruck and listen— when no one else could pay the heed, that "Friend of My Imagination" is all I seek and all I need...

 I am a Tigress & this is my tragic story...

An Embarrassing Refuge!

~"I happened to be the proud ruler of the jungles by being the 'Queen of masquerade'; that kingdom once was in a Natural Habitat—a 'Shady Sylvan Glade'!

Then came the contender—You Human!!!
...thereby needing to mark the respective range of influence, but every former belief was to be rearranged; sparring the 'biased rules' of the game, you see, every other thing was to be changed...

Wonder what ensued???
...a state of conflict was reached, when the 'best of both the worlds' have met; sadly 'two swords' couldn't be contained, in a single humble sheath!

...in clash of our Egos, your 'Gunpowder' overwhelmed the power of my 'Claws'; I withdrew from that 'battle of attrition', you see, long before it was declared a 'draw'...

You see, "The health & diversity of an ecosystem was once by virtue of my pivotal role; i used to be the 'Top-Predator' of the jungle who had nurtured its (jungle's) very soul!!!" But!
...but, such 'Stories' have been told earlier, & seldom they were heard; Regardless of the reasonableness such causes remained absurd...Alas!!!

As vivid a symbol of 'strength with beauty' I was while being a 'Majestic Creature'; as ruthlessly I was purged to the verge of extinction, you see, by first being tagged as endangered!

As much I was revered as I should be, in many & varried cultures; sooner the 'signs of my existence', ironically, happened to have gotten blurred!

...In the end...
...doesn't matter much today as who has reigned supreme; I only know who holds the reins to my existence today & my already sacked self esteem!

I could only hope now that your souls are timely stirred; justified would be this 'embarrassing refuge' I had to take behind 'Praveen Katiyar's Words'!!!"

Guru: counsels, inspires and boldly exemplifies; he awakens, teaches & selflessly guides... 

Through a developed stoic perception a 'Guru' can separate untrue from true; a Teacher by profession can't always be acknowledged as a "Guru"!!! 

A 'Guru' can't be sifted from an assemblage of saints, sages and teachers—unless the person is foresighted in abundance & is an insightful Seer & believer!!! 

  Some have equated Gurus with the Gods & some insult his presence being indulged in harum-scarum; his title is not self-ordained, mind you, as the distinction is being earned by his functional wisdom!

To my 'Real Guru', I hereby extend my token of gratitude; this is the only person, I fathom, who has functioned for me as a 'Divine Institute'!

The destiny of a 'legend' is, not to be ever forgotten, but sadly the song of one's glory are sung post-demise; every step taken becomes worth preserving only in the end, that finally qualifies to build up a memorable story's premise...

Curtains are meant to be raised, & curtains ultimately gets drawn, in an epic way today, a behemoth has withdrawn; his legacy will inspire the narrative of many more newer dawns, so lets remember him and celebrate the culmination of one 'Great Life's' marathon!

He was subtle, understated & believable, certainly giving every frame a 'definition of finality'; no one ever will come closer, I am sure, to his class, composure, & quality!

His going, has created a space which no one can ever fill—for what he was, what he has been, & what his grand 'legacy' shall instill!

Many 'rough diamonds' must have learnt from him to shine—despite their flaws; & many will keep on drawing inspiration from him, who  aspire, firmly, to put on the classic show!

The doyen of 'Hindi Cinema's Golden Age' has sadly expired today, but I am hopeful that his legacy will continue; i hope, the rare specimens of his very many masterpieces will keep on inspiring the new...

It must not have been easy for him to be an ever guiding beacon, for only a God gifted –blessed soul can be revered as a 'cultural icon'; today, the last of the Trioka( others: Raj & Dev) has finally gone, lets mourn at the loss of such a marvellous phenomenon!!!

The Blood In Us💖

...because, of this 'opulent sap' only, one's effervescent succulent self is retained; only because of its pristine deluge in one's veins, a wholesome wellness is attained...

...because, in every living being, it is as 'ubiquitous' as it could possibly be; the 'invaluable blood ' in us receives a classic sucker punch of 'underestimation' —for being available for free!

...because, the 'urgency of a necessity' sometimes become as contingent an effect as was the very cause; a timely realisation of the very ignorance/awareness must set in, before the chance to brood withdraws!!!

A 'donor's conscience' is lightest on its way towards the highest state of positivity;  after all, only a person with guts & heart💓 of a 'blood donor ' can build for himself an 'idyllic inner world' of contentment & conformity...

My Four Walls

A 'promise' was getting woven there, to rise up again stronger after an upsetting fall; 'to grow within the four walled confines for almost two years', however, was the only asserting protocol!

It was delightful to find  inspiration hidden in those flimsy 'whispered calls'; all I had to do was to keep moving, taking steps—big & small.

Believe me, you would 'love' talking to them for the sake of an overhaul, only if you could 'make out' well with 'punctuations' written on the otherwise silent—loquacious walls...

'Autograph' please...

In that moment, a 'lowly fan' submits before his 'stellar star', the moment equally celebrated by a budding celeb & the Super Star...

A 'Fan' is the one who shoot him to reach the amazing heights, & it is not just the commercial success, for which a 'Star' craves the lime light...

...there is something pious about that moment of 'give & take', where a momentary mutual acknowledgement becomes worthy of a 'keepsake'!

My 'fandom' is by virtue of my leanings towards the goodness—to be learnt, to immitate, as well as steal; and his 'stardom' is because he entertain me, when a 'vulnerable hero' in him, gets revealed...

His flops expose that he also can take the beating, & his fame is reinforced by his super-duper hits; his stardom is by virtue of playing the roles—larger than life, where a marksman wins—despite his miss!

Don't you worry, my 'Star of the Millennium', as you will ever be revered by your fans like me— in their thicks & thins; irrespective of being so humanly, Sir, you have earned the grace to be an 'Immortal being'...

...certainly an 'immortal  humble being'!!!

A Manuscript, yet???

There was no other way to contain the free spirit, & there was no better way to get along with this 'lock- down'; I have luckily found my place to fit in, you see, the place where I only wished I belonged!

I had to turn down my moderation, in favour of some fervid 'radical notions'–to set right some long pending wrongs; the commotions inside took their turn to bring out, readily, their own 'signature songs'...

The outcome of this 'transformative sabbatical' that has just lasted for a period—somewhat yearlong; it would be an exaggeration to tag my 'opening' as a 'manuscript', I guess, that is just 'Seven Notebooks Strong'...

Vivid message, well recieved!


"Mind you, Human!" Interrupted Tiger declared confidently 'baring its teeth'—showing the sign to the Tourist towards his way to retreat...

"...but I am here to make you hit to an instant fame, would you mind telling me at least your name?" Numbed by a unwelcoming treatment, the Tourist could come up with nothing but an option to extend a friendly gesture; but the Tiger was in no mood to receive yet another boring lecture.

" I am not some fool, you fool, who just likes to block  someone's passage, rather my motive behind this act is to extend a 'vivid message'." Tiger quipped & continued...
—"I am the king of this jungle, not your pet; you cross the line, & you will regret!"

The Tourist got the vivid message, & chose to retreat; but of course with a 'shot of his lifetime'— to serve us all a memorable treat!
